Heritage Elementary Scholarship
There are two (2) scholarships:
Heritage Make Your Mark Scholarship ($500)
For a student who is pursuing higher education, excels both academically and through participation in
school and community activities, and who has “made their mark” in Medina.
Wes Florian Scholarship ($500)
For a student pursuing a college degree and a career in education. Recipient must have attended Heritage.
The student must have attended Heritage for at least one full school year. The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic standing (a GPA of 3.0 or better), sincerity in furthering one's education, and student citizenship. Several questions on the Senior Scholarship Application regarding the two scholarships, ie, “Make Your Mark,” why do you deserve this scholarship, why choose education?

Les & Becky McClaning Scholarship
One $1000 Scholarship.
Recipient must be a college-bound MHS Senior and must plan on being a commuter student to either the University of Akron or a community college.
Recipient must be planning on majoring in business, accounting or finance and have a minimum GPA 3.0. Special consideration given to applicants who are the first member of their immediate family to attend college. Required essay of no more than 1 page on work history while in high school and why you are planning to commute.
Jordin Brooke Riccelli Memorial Scholarship
Overview

Overview

John Paul Kelly Memorial Scholarship
Overview
The scholarship is in honor of John P. Kelly. He was a teacher who tirelessly advocated for the voiceless, fervently believed in everyone’s potential, and indefatigably taught lessons that reached far beyond the classroom. This scholarship honors his lifelong love of teaching, learning, and giving.
Essay
The applicant should answer the following questions (a) What do you dream for or fear?, (b) What is a detail you remember from a a really good (or bad day)?, (c) Outside of your family, who or what do you love most and why?, and (d) can you whistle? and, if so, what is your favorite song to whistle?

Graham Family Fund
Mrs. Jansen will post this scholarship application in Google Classroom.
Two $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to a graduating senior string player who is currently enrolled in the Medina High School Orchestra Program. The winners of the scholarships will be announced at the April 2025 concert. The scholarship funds must be used towards college or other post-high school academic pursuits. The winners of the scholarships will be chosen by a committee who do not currently have an enrolled senior string player in the Orchestra Program.
The committee members will choose the winners based solely on his or her responses to the questions on the application. Recipients will be chosen using a “blind” selection process.
All application responses must be typed and given to Mrs. Jansen no later than Thursday, April 4, 2025. No late applications will be accepted.
In order to be considered for a scholarship please answer the following questions as thoroughly as possible.
1. Please elaborate on your future postsecondary educational and/or professional training plans after high school. What educational program will you be entering into?
2. Please describe the impact being an Orchestra member has made in your life.How has Orchestra and playing a string instrument influenced your life? In what ways has being an Orchestra member shaped your academic and personal character?

Math Department Scholarship
Overview
The Math Department Scholarship is given annually to a graduating senior that is planning to major in Mathematics Education (Teaching) or Mathematics in college. The scholarship was founded by Mr. John Berger, a retired math teacher at and former head of the Department of Math at Medina High School and his wife Laura Berger. The recipient’s GPA, character, work ethic, integrity, and financial aid will be considered. In addition, the applicant must submit a brief essay as to why the applicant believes he/she/or they are qualified for the scholarship as well as providing two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a math teacher at the High School. The recipient will be chosen each year by a committee consisting of the Head of the Math Department and two math teachers. If the recipient is a varsity baseball player or softball player for one year then an additional $100 bonus will be added to the $700 award.
